How To Protect Yourself

The following are rules of thumb for you to
apply in protecting yourself from being harmed by the fitness and sick care
industries:
1. If you eat fewer
Calories than you burn, you MUST lose weight.
- Diets fail because they are too severe.
- Until you are sure that you can handle a
greater reduction in Calories, do not reduce your daily caloric intake by
more than 250 Calories per day or 10%, which ever is less.
- For weight loss all that really matters is
eating fewer Calories than you burn. What,
where and how often you eat is immaterial. However you achieve and can
maintain fewer Calories eaten than burned is what counts.
2. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a
weight loss diet to fail, if you maintain it over time.
- In this instance, a diet is eating fewer
Calories than you burn.
- As long as you consume fewer Calories than
you burn, you will continue to lose weight. You have no choice in this
matter. This is the Law of Thermodynamics and it holds true in the entire
known universe. You are no exception.
3. Do not follow any diet
that has you eating fewer Calories per day than your Basal Metabolic Rate or
BMR. They are too difficult for many people to sustain.
- To calculate your approximate BMR:
- If you are female, multiply your weight in
pounds by 10.
- If you are male, multiply your weight in
pounds by 11.
4. Do not follow any
fitness program that has you eating fewer Calories than you burn AND claims that
you will add muscle by exercising.
- Adding muscle adds weight to your body.
- It is not possible to add weight to your
body when you are eating fewer Calories than you burn, i.e., losing weight.
